Who We Are

This web site has been developed by City of Fort Collins, Colorado and E-Star Colorado.

City of Fort CollinsCity of Fort Collins is a progressive municipality located along the northern Front Range of Colorado. The City of Fort Collins Utilities operates the citizen-owned electric utility, a trusted source of information about energy efficiency for more than 20 years. The City of Fort Collins Utilities has been recognized statewide and nationally for its forward-looking work on energy efficiency. The City of Fort Collins Building and Zoning Department is widely known as a leader in Colorado for implementing progressive building codes.

E-Star ColoradoE-Star is a Colorado non-profit organization committed to advancing energy efficiency in housing. To meet this objective, E-Star partners with, supports, and provides information through its energy ratings and other programs to participants in the housing industry. This includes homeowners and homebuyers, builders, home energy raters, real estate professionals, code officials, and utilities. E-Star understands the diverse concerns of each of these groups in respect to energy efficiency and its interrelation with factors such as construction schedules, comfort, home value, environmental issues, and cost concerns.

City of Fort Collins and E-Star Colorado are collaborating to develop the Colorado New Home Choices web site. This is part of a campaign to increase public awareness about problems and opportunities as new homes are designed and built. With more information, these organizations are optimistic that buyers and the housing industry will become partners in making high-performing homes the next “industry standard.”
